TypingTimer is designed as a benchmark, not a game. We follow the international typing test standard: one "word" equals 5 characters. This lets you compare results accurately across different texts and sessions.
Gross WPM = (Characters ÷ 5) ÷ Minutes. Net WPM = Gross WPM × Accuracy — your true benchmark score after accounting for errors.
